Autumn/Winter 15 Trends

The catwalk for this years Autumn/ Winter collection has been spectacular! Surprisingly there has been some bright colours and there is still a few trends following through from Spring/Summer. There has been lots of smaller designers also releasing great clothes for the colder seasons so I have decided to include some of them. In this post I am going to show you guys the trends I have picked up on when looking through the catwalk shows: I hope you enjoy!

Tartan/ Checkered pattern

The first trend I saw was in the majority of collections was tartan and check patterns. Tartan and check are seen regularly in the Autumn/Winter collections. The pattern is very wintery and can be used on any item of clothing. Although the pattern can be hard to pair it is stil a great look when you get the combinations right!
Paul Smith

Acne Studios

Banana Republic

Band of Outsiders

Quilted fabric

The next trend which I identified was the quilted pattern. The quilted pattern has appears in a few collections. The quilted fabric is usually used in jackets and coats but this season the designers have incorporated it in many items of clothing: such as shorts!

Rag & Bone

Alexander Wang

Nude Suits

Nude suits are a thing of spring but now they have been appearing in the collections of those for Autumn and Winter. Nude suits are great as they go with mostly anything and they suit nearly everyone! By Nude, I mean: baby pink, cream, beige, light mauve. I think incorporating the nude colours for winter is a great idea because the Autumn/Winter collections are almost always dark colours.

Marc Jacobs

Next up, is stripes. Stripes are great as they add dimension to any outfit. Stripes have been popular this Spring/Summer season but now they are moving into Winter. The stripes I have seen on the catwalk are mostly wide and bright colours.

Ace & Jig

Emilo Pucci

Wearing a fringe on your outfit has been big this Summer but now the trend is moving into winter. Many collections have used the fringe in their clothing. Personally, I prefer the fringe in winter clothing as I believe it looks better on jumpers and coats.

Banana Republic

Burberry Prorsum

Giorgio Armani

Another trend which appears nearly yearly is leather. Leather is great for winter as it is warm. The leather this year has been used in tops, trousers and skirts, as well as jackets.

Acne Studios

Alexander McQueen

Alexander Wang

Calvin Klein

David Koma

Narsisco Rodriguez

Sheer Black Fabric

Another trend which I love is sheer black fabric. Many designer have used sheer black fabric as dress cuffs and blouses. This fabric is great as it adds a sense of luxury and elegance to an outfit.

 Paco Rabanne

Charles Youssef

Another trend which I have picked up on is ruffles. I was suprised to see ruffles in the clothing for Winter, I usually see ruffles as a summer trend. However, the way the ruffles have been used in the collections are genius, the clothes look fabulous!

Alexander McQueen

Christopher Kane

David Koma

Isabel Marant

Tom Ford

Of course, fur is always huge in winter – it would make sense as it keeps in the heat. The fur on this years catwalk has been fabulous. There has been a variety of colours and styles, all of which I love!

Just Cavalli

Louis Vutton

Roberto Cavalli

Finally, the last trend identified was denim. Denim is great when it is in fashion as it is so easy to wear! Denim has been big this Summer so I wasn’t suprised when I saw it was followed through into the Winter collections. The Denim as usual was used in dresses and also trousers.
